My GE washer is leaving brown spots on my clothing, ruining my clothes. The cleaners were not even able to remove the spots. Why?

I do not have a fabric softener or bleach dispenser.

Last load of clothes that were washed in the washer were COVERED with these brown spots. It seems to absorb and attach itself to some material more that others. When I removed the clothes from the washer (it was a very small load), there was a dime sized "blob" (brownish in color) in the bottom of my washer. It was greasy to the touch.

I REALLY do not want to have to buy a new washer, so I hope this is fixable!!

Thank you!

Having a washer machine that is not working correctly can be a frustrating ordeal. I have placed a link down bellow that might help you understand what can be causing the problem, while you wait for the experts response.
