My dryer is leaving rust marks on my clothing. How can I stop this?

My clothing is coming out of the dryer with random rust colored streaks on it. What could cause this and can it be corrected? Kenmore elite model number 110.74942300.

If the drum has rust spots and scratches then it can be sanded smooth and repainted. There is a gray paint that is used to paint the drum. It is part number 350938 and can be obtained from the following site:

Sears PartsDirect

.

Some dryers can leave brown stains on clothes due to the clothes rubbing across or getting caught in loose felt drum seals. Use a white cloth or rag to rub the inside perimeter of the dryer drum at the front and back to see if you get brown marks on the cloth or rag. If you do, then you may need to replace the felt drum seals. The dryer will need to be unplugged and you will need to remove the drum to replace the rear felt seal. This is not an easy repair and a technician may be needed. I’m listing a site you can access, to have a technician come out. Here is a link for the website: you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

Sears Home Services

.

If you feel confident in your repair skills and would like more assistance, to replace the drum felt, we will assist you further. The image below will give you an idea how to remove the drum to change the rear seal.

Always remember to unplug the dryer first before any repairs are make.

It can definitely be frustrating when your dryer is leaving rust marks on your clothing. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below if you are interested in viewing. I hope the link that I provided is helpful. Have a great day.
