If the drum has rust spots and scratches then it can be sanded smooth and repainted. There is a gray paint that is used to paint the drum. It is part number 350938 and can be obtained from the following site:
Some dryers can leave brown stains on clothes due to the clothes rubbing across or getting caught in loose felt drum seals. Use a white cloth or rag to rub the inside perimeter of the dryer drum at the front and back to see if you get brown marks on the cloth or rag. If you do, then you may need to replace the felt drum seals. The dryer will need to be unplugged and you will need to remove the drum to replace the rear felt seal.
