why does my washing machine show uneven load with little in it?

kenmore elite oasis HE model washer, recently started showing ul (uneven load) in display during spin cycle. i removed almost all clothes and continued and it still bounces like crazy. All springs are in place and all bolts are tight through the shaft . whats wrong? and how can I fix it?

My first thought of the problem you describe is that the control might be at fault. The control monitors the motor power and determines if there is a problem.

You say the washer "bounces like crazy" which sounds like there is a mechanical problem.

_Remember to unplug the washer before beginning._Working with live electrical current can be very hazardous and possibly deadly.

A common problem that causes a "UL" error is mechanical friction. I.e. something keeping the basket from moving as designed. You will need to remove the basket from the tub. I have included an illustrated set of instructions (See below). Check between the basket and tub for foreign objects such as socks or other small laundry articles. One person can lift the basket but two might be better.

Unbalanced loads are unnerving, I can understand how a continued issue would be upsetting. One thing that may help the expert provide a better answer is the model number of your washer. In the meantime I did locate a previous expert post that should fit and hopefully help. I attached the link below.
