I know how important it is to have a good working freezer in the home so that you can keep your food nice and fresh. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I suggest you add to the thread of this question and include the full model number of your appliance so that the expert can provide you with a more detailed answer. I did manage to find a link that describes a similar problem to the one you are having with your appliance. I hope my link is useful.

From your description, I am assuming the unit is cooling and the high temp alarm is not beeping even though the outside of the freezer is hot. It's normal for the freezer to be warm to the touch but not so hot you can't. The reason the outside of the freezer is hot is because that is how the freezer releases the heat from the refrigerant. Unless the freezer is not cooling there is nothing to worry about. If you require further assistance, please respond to the thread with more detail and a complete model number.
