My Kenmore Series 70 Washer makes a noise and won't spin

My Kenmore Series 70 washer heavy duty, super capacity plus, 2 speed motor w/4 speed combinations will fill with water then when it gets to the wash cycle it makes a loud kind of grinding noise, won't agitate or spin. I have advanced it to other cycles (spin, rinse) on any of the wash types (regular wash, perm press, etc) and it continues to make noise and won't do anything. The model # is 110.24732300, SER: CR5061349, TYPE: 111. Amps 10.0, volts: 120, hz 60. It's roughly 3 years old. PLEASE help!

It was in fact a broken coupler. The video you provided was very helpful. It was a pain to do but took an hour and works great, no need for a repair guy that would have ripped me off. $just under $30 and an hour of my time.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details it sounds like it may have a broken motor coupler. The motor coupler connects the motor to the gear case and when it breaks the washer motor will run but it will not agitate or spin and only drain. I recommend accessing and inspecting the motor coupler located between the back of the motor and the gear case.

I added a YouTube video showing how access and replace the

motor coupler

.

The part number of the motor coupler is #285753A which can be ordered from

SearsPartsDirect

if needed.

Check the motor coupler and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

After a ton of research last night I came to the conclusion it's the coupler. I have ordered the part and will attempt to fix it when it arrives. I refuse to pay someone to come and fix it. I think it's a waste of money and I am very handy for a single female. Thanks for the links
