How to install Kenmore Refrigerator Compressor Relay and Overload device

Hi, I have a Kenmore Refrigerator (Model 59502992, Serial=5K2829536), the compressor starts for a second and then goes off. A few minutes later starts again for one sec and goes off again, and this happens again and again. I thought it is the relay issue and the sales man in Sears agreed and told me to buy both Relay (part # 8201799) and the over load device (part # 4387835). Is this a capacitor (overload device)? Am I in the right track (spent $75 so far)?

Any way I need to know how to install these units? Could you please help? I need a diagram or some pictures.

Thanks, JK

Both the parts you bought include a start device and an overload. You only need one of these parts.

If your refrigerator has the original compressor in it, you should use part number 8201799. If the compressor has been replaced, use part number 4387835. If the compressor is good, one of these parts will resolve the problem.

The parts come with an installation instruction sheet. You should follow the instructions on the instruction sheet to install the part.

Remove the terminal cover box from the side of the compressor after disconnecting the power to the refrigerator. The start device will plug on the side of the compressor. Connect the wires as the instructions suggest.
