Instructions for replacing off / on switch in a Craftsman wet / dry vacuum

I am installing the off on switch 82323-97 into Craftsman shop vac 338.179220 following the instructions (87528-81) i received with the part. I cannot install the impeller nut as motor shaft turns.

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you are having this problem with the vacuum. Normally, replacing the on / off switch should not involve the motor. However, if you are having trouble with the impeller nut, you may need to hold the motor shaft with some pliers, to keep it from turning. I hope this will help you.
