Getting the Kenmore washer to drain and spin as soon as possible is important so the clothes won't smell. The link below may be of some assistance while waiting for an expert answer. Please provide the model number to get the best possible answer. Just click on reply to continue the thread.
NOTE TO "ANNA T" - WENT TO THE LINK YOU POSTED AND WATCHED THE VIDEO. TOOK THE LOAD OUT (JUST SHEETS) AND THEN TRIED THE WASHER AS SUGGESTED IN THE VIDEO -- IT STARTED DRAINING AND THEN SPINNING. THANKS FOR THE TIP. DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS A WARNING SIGN OF SOMETHING READY TO BREAK -- BUT FOR NOW, IT IS WORKING AGAIN.
If the washer will not drain then it most likely will not spin. Some models have a drain pump filter that may be clogged. For the most complete answer please reply with a model number for further assistance.
From the previouw post the washer is draining and spinning now which is good news. If the washer will spin empty but will not spin with a load the problem can be with the clutch and/or basket drive. The lid switch controls the motor in both agitation and spin. if the lid switch is the problem I would expect the washer to stop running in the agitation cycle as well as the drain spin cycle.
