Kenmore electric range - oven is preheating but not staying hot

Kenmore Electric range. Model # 790.95423300 Everything works, except the oven! I turn it on, the oven light and the preheat light come one. Once preheated it will beep and the preheat light shuts off! Ok...all that's fine. But then......the oven light also shuts off and it appears that it stops working, and won't cook! What could be the problem??

The clock control board (part 316207522) controls the oven elements. Your symptoms point to a failed control board. You may be able to reset the control board by unplugging the range for 5 minutes. Plug it back in and see if that control works properly. If not, then I recommend that you replace that control board. You can order that part from this page:

Clock Control Board for Kenmore Electric Range Model 790.95423300

. Be sure that you

unplug the range

before accessing and replacing that component.

Here

is a video that shows how to replace that clock control board. NOTE: You may also need to replace that overlay (part 316220841) unless you can reuse the original one as shown in that video.

These tips may help you fix that problem in your range. If you need more help, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:

What good is a preheated oven if it turns off after its warmed up. Below is a link with a similar issue with a range. This may give you an idea what is happening with your range. An expert will respond to your specific question within 24-48 hours.
