Duties of God parents what are they?

What are the duties of a God parent if the biological parents are still living? We are the God parents of my nephew who was born on our wedding anniversary. We have grandchildren a boy & girl who we are helping to support because their parents are divorced and the mom is not getting an adequate amount of child support. We also have other nieces and nephews and do not want to show favoritism to just one! Don't get me wrong we love all of our nieces and nephews but are we obligated to do for one because he is our God child? In need of an expert's opinion!

Congratulations on being chosen to be a godparent of a child! Becoming a godparent is a great gift meaning that someone loves and trusts in you enough for you to care for their child if anything were to ever happen to them. I understand your concern for your grandchildren feeling like if there is favoritism in your household, which can sometimes be tricky but I have attached some links for you to view while you wait on your response for an expert. I hope these links are helpful for you. Have a happy Friday!

Think of Godparents as back up parents. If the actual parents are unable or unwilling to provide religious instructions to the child then the God Parents would step in. The following link will provide more information on being a God Parent:

. I hope this helps. You can reply with any additional questions for further assistance.
