Does my Craftsman garage door opener wall unit have a battery?

I just purchased a 10-year-old home. I have a Craftsman garage door opener wall unit and a Genie Intellicode opener with a Genie outdoor keypad, but no remotes. I was able to reprogram the keypad, but I'm not able to program my new Genie remote. The instructions say that perhaps the wall unit is locked. It does have a lock button on it. Pushing that doesn't help. Pushing the 'light' button does nothing, either. Maybe there's a battery in there that needs replacing? How do I get it off the wall to check? Then when that's done, how do I unlock the thing if its locked? Thank you!!

PS: The large button on top of the wall unit works - the garage door does open and close properly. It just appears that the Light and Lock buttons do not work.

Thanks for contacting

. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with programming the remote to the garage door opener. We are here to help. Craftsman and Genie and not fully compatible with each other. The wall control will open and close the door, but nothing else. If the wall control was locked, the lock button would be blinking. The wall control does not use batteries. They are hard wired to the garage door opener. The new remote control you purchased may not be compatible with your garage door opener. I provide you a link to Genie's website for programming instruction for accessories and remotes. Just

to visit Genies website. You can also verify on that website, if your remote will program to your garage door opener. I hope this helps.
