self propelled does not work

craftsman self propelled, model 917.376536. wheels will not pull mower. i have taken mower apart, one wheel stripped on inside. so i am replacing the belt and wheel.

question is.....the pulley above the gear drive spins freely, but does not turn the axle below to the wheels when spinning. So is there a slip system in the gear box. or do i need to replace the gear box ???

thanks, drew

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you are having this problem with the mower. There is not a slip system in this gear case. If the pulley is spinning free, it will indicate a problem inside the gear case # 424657 and it will need to be replaced. It will come complete with the pulley. I hope this will help you.
