My Kenmore HE2 washing machine will not start.

Not certain if this is the model number, but I found this: 8540749. Purchased in 2006. When I press "start," the Wash, Rinse, and Clothes Clean lights come one, and every light around the dial flash on/off. I have tried unplugging and plugging back in. Can I reset this? Do I need to replace something?

Thank you.

I understand how frustrating it can become when you experience an issue with your washer. I am happy to help. The only way to reset a washer is to unplug it for a few minutes, then reconnect power. Generally when the lights on the panel flash it is indicating an error code. I did some general research and located the steps for running a diagnostic test (image below). This should help you to determine the error code. Most Kenmore units start with a 110. a 796. or a 417. number. You can locate this under the washer's door near the bottom. Please reply back with further details (after running this test) and I will be happy to assist you further. Please also include the full/complete model number.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:
