How to manually open a locked Maytag front-loading washer door; model MAH6700A

The following instructions do not help because there is no lower access panel on my washer and no error code displays:

Korinna S EXPERT November 13, 2012

The door can be manually unlocked.
Disconnect the power cord from the power source.
Remove the lower access panel.
Reach up along the inside of the front and locate the bottom of the door switch/lock mechanism.
Located on the bottom of the door switch/lock mechanism is a tear shaped tab.
Gently pull the tab down about 1/4 inch or until a click is heard.
The door can now be opened.
Your type of washer should flash an error code indicating what the issue is. After opening the door and removing the clothes. Plug the washer back in and see if it has returned to normal operation. If there is an error code flashing, please get back to us so we may look into this for you."
