AMANA Dryer LGA50AW starting problem

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

Hi,
I have a AMANA dryer LGA50AW.
The timer control switch will not stay pushed in to start dryer.
It has slowly over the last month been getting harder for it to stick and stay in.
It went to the point of not running unless you held the knob pushed in.
Now when you push knob in it just makes a brrrrr sound and nothing else.
Not sure where to start to troubleshoot or what may need replacing. Do not want to spend a lot
because of its age.
Thanks,
Ed

I can understand how important it is to have the right information for your dryer. from what you are describing, it sounds like the problem is in the timer. This is what control all of the cycles. However, due to the age of the unit, this part is no longer available. You may want to consider purchasing a new machine. I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help. Thank you for using Manage My Life.com.
