Why won't my dehumidifier drain out the hose?

I have Kenmore Dehumidifier model# 580.54701. The dehumidifier will not drain. I carefully followed the instructions on page 8 of the owner's manual to use a garden hose to continually drain the contents of the bucket, in order to avoid the need to manually empty the bucket every time it fills up. Despite the fact that the drain hose connector is installed properly, the bucket will not drain to the hose, but instead the bucket fills to near the top and then, before the water reaches the hose connector, the dehumidifier turns off and flashes "bucket full". How do I correct this problem?

If the drain hose adapter is connected properly to the drain tube port all the water should be directed out the drain tube port into the hose adapter and out the water hose. The water will not be directed into the bucket. Water is not going to drain if the garden hose has any incline to it.

Note:

Be sure that the water hose is laying flat.

It's possible that when you inserted the garden hose adapter it may have missed the drain tube elbow fitting. If the garden hose adapter did not slip over the drain tube the water will drip down and into the bucket instead of out the garden hose.

I recommend pulling the bucket out and check to see if the garden hose adapter aligned over the drain tube fitting. You should see an elbow that all the water drips out of. The garden hose adapter must fit snug over the drain tube elbow or it leak the water into the bucket instead.
