Why does my Sears gas range make a loud popping or poof noise when I have the oven on?

My Sears gas stove occasionally makes a loud popping or poof sound when I have the oven on. What is this sound? Is it dangerous? The model is 911.36655590, serial number 6L229571Q.

I think the sound you hear is what is called delayed ignition. The oven burner is not lighting correctly and raw gas accumulates in the bottom of the oven. When the burner lights, it ignites the accumulated gas and there is a small explosion.

It could be dangerous.

I recommend you schedule service and get a technician to diagnose and repair the problem.
