Although you indicated that you cleaned the dispenser area, you may still have a clog in the fabric softener dispenser. With the washer off, I recommend pulling the dispenser drawer completely out of the housing. Pull the inserts out and thoroughly wash the entire dispenser drawer. Use a pipe cleaner to clean the siphon tube in the fabric softener dispenser. Also clean the bottom of the dispenser drawer where the softener drains out when siphoned through the tube. To check the flow through the dispenser drawer, replace the insert in the fabric softener dispenser and fill it to the very top with water. Tilt the dispenser drawer back slightly. The water should siphon out of the dispenser and out through the back bottom of the dispenser drawer. If not, check the dispenser again for a clog or restriction.
Make sure that you add warm water to dilute the fabric softener. The fabric softener will not siphon out of the dispenser properly if it is too thick.
If the fabric softener will still not dispense after being diluted and verifying proper flow through the dispenser drawer, you could have a component failure in the dispenser assembly or a control problem. A service technician is normally needed to diagnose and repair this type of problem.
