Why does my Kenmore washer leave dirt & lint in the clothes & tub?

I have a Kenmore washer model number 110.92586210. After washing a load of sheets the washer left dirt, lint, etc on the load & in the tub. I have run 3 tubs of water with bleach & laundry soap & there is still dirt left in the washer. We have a water softener & do not use fabric softener. I need to know if anything should be replaced when we take it apart to clean it again.

When you have a water softener you have to be sure you are using a lot less laundry soap than normal. If the excessive amount of suds does not get rinsed out, this will cause scum to build up between the spin basket & outer tub. Over a period of time this scum will flake off the tub & fall into the wash loads. I would recommend pulling out the spin basket & cleaning the scum & soap build-up off the tubs. A good stiff brush, soap & water should take care of it. Be sure to clean the tub cover while you’re at it.
