The F22 error code indicates a door lock error. It is likely that the door lock mechanism will need to be replaced to fix this problem.

If you want to attempt this repair yourself, you can order the door lock from the Sears PartsDirect website

. The part number is 8540772.

To replace the door switch, you will need to

unplug the washer

and access it through the door boot in the front panel of the washer. The image below describes this process on a similar type of washer. You should not have to remove the washer door. Remove the spring clamp that holds the door boot and then loosen it to access the door lock mechanism. Remove the door lock and disconnect the wires. Plug the wires into the new door lock and secure it to the front panel. Replace the door boot. To reinstall the spring clamp, start with the spring at the top and place the bottom of the clamp into the groove at the bottom of the door opening. Work the clamp into the grooves moving up both sides of the opening evenly and stretching the spring clamp outward with your thumbs.
