Why does my Kenmore dryer stop in the middle of the cycle?

I have a Kenmore dryer model 11064642400. It stops with the clothes still damp. When I restart it, the dryer will run for a while and then stop again. Sometimes it will complete the cycle with the clothes dry.

Several problems could cause the dryer to stop in the middle of the cycle. An intermittent problem with the door switch could be shutting the dryer off. A wiring problem could also be shutting the dryer down. You could have a bad timer or a bad drive motor. Lint build-up around the drive motor could cause it to overheat. A friction problem could also be causing your drive motor to overheat. Spin the drum counter clockwise by hand to check for this type of problem. Make sure that you are not overloading the dryer. An intermittent problem could be difficult to diagnose. I recommend calling a service technician to repair this type of problem.
