How do I convert a ppm water hardness number to a gpg to set the water softener?

My water softener asks for a gpg hardness number. My water test results give me a ppm hardness figure. How do I convert the ppm to gpg?

1.0ppm = 0.058419gpg. To convert from ppm to gpg use the following formula:

ppm x 0.058419gpg/ppm = gpg

For example, 60ppm would equal 3.5gpg (60 X 0.058419).
