How do I "reset the thermal protector" in the canister of my Kenmore Progressive canister vac?

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

I was vacuuming fine dust when the vacuum stopped working. It will not restart. I believe the fine dust interrupted the airflow through the HEPA filter bag, and tripped the Thermal Protector. My manual states the Thermal Protector is within the canister and should be reset. I cannot find the thermal protector and do not know how to reset it. My vacuum is a Kenmore Progressive 116.25513.

To reset the thermal protector in your vacuum disconnect the cord from the wall and let the vacuum set for about 30 minutes. When the motor cools the thermal protector will reset automatically. There is no button to push.
