What is making a loud humming noise in my refrigerator?

The refrigerator makes a loud humming noise while the doors are shut,(I believe this is the motor) when any door is open the noise stops. While the doors are closed I can undo the switch box above the door and the noise will stop. Either way whenever that little switch button is pushed in (as it would be with the door closed), the noise starts, when it pops back out (as it would do with the door opened) the noise stops. Could this be a bad switch or is it the motor?

The brand is: Kenmore
The model no. is 795.75549400

From your description this sounds like the motor is the problem. Now I want to advise you these units will make noises you may not have heard with the older models. Sometimes the noise you hear now may be a normal noise. I'm sending you a section from the owner’s manual about sounds you may hear. The number of the motor is # 4681JK1004D and is available at

. I recommend having a technician check and repair this if necessary. This can be a difficult job even for technicians.
