Why won't the electric starter stop sparking on my KitchenAid gas range?

I have a KitchenAid gas range model KGCT305B. I have turned on the burners, I have disconnected the electrical plug from the wall socket and waited at least a half hour. I reconnected the electrical cord, but still the sparking continues.

Your symptoms point to a failed igniter switch on one of the burners. When one of these switches is stuck closed, the burners will spark continuously. I recommend calling a service technician to determine which igniter switch is defective. Once the defective switch is replaced, the cook top will work normally.
