Will a bad fuse stop my dryer from starting?

Before purchasing a new dryer I need to know if the fuse will stop dryer from any operation. When I push start it did not make any movement or sounds. I was wondering if it could be the thermal fuse or what possible part could I order. I have a Whirlpool electric dryer model number LER7646EQ0.

There could be one of several possible failures preventing your dryer from starting:

Voltage supply (tripped circuit breaker)

Failed door switch

Failed timer

Loose or burnt wire connection

Failed thermal fuse

Failed motor

I added an image of the wiring diagram so that you can see the components wired in series with the motor circuit.

There is no way of me knowing which one of the above has failed without using a volt/ohm meter and testing components and checking voltages. Your dryer is likely worth repairing.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dryer.
