What is wrong when my Maytag model MAH2400AWW washer won't spin and displays an 3E error?

I have a Maytag MAH2400AWW washer and the 3e error code appears when entering spin cycle. Machine does not spin but will performs all other tasks.

The 3E message indicates an over-current was detected and the motor will not turn. This is generally caused by a loose connection.

In your description of the problem you say the washer will fill and wash okay it is only when it gets to the spin cycle that 3E is displayed.

I'd recommend a technician check and repair this problem. The 3E error is an error that should occur in wash as well as spin. It is odd the error only happens in the spin cycle.

If you don't mind a little do-it-yourself the image below contains the instructions for entering a test mode. If the washer stops in spin you can try to run the test and see if the motor will work.

The 2nd image shows how to access the controls and you can, with the voltage unplugged, check the connections and make sure they're tight because a loose connection can cause this error..
