What is wrong with a Kenmore washer that washes and drains okay but doesn't spin fast enough to wring the clothes out?

I have a Kenmore model 110.24872 washer and it washes clothes fine but during the spin cycle it does not spin. The motor makes the spinning noise but the machine does not spin and clothes remain wet. We replaced the coupler but the problem still exists. .

If the washer is agitating then the coupler is okay. A broken coupler would affect both agitation and spin.

If the motor is running and the machine is not spinning the first thing I recommend is to try and turn the spin basket by hand. You'll have to raise the lid and keep the lid switch engaged but see it the basket will turn.

Sometimes if you give the basket a push it will start to spin and this would indicate a problem with the basket drive or clutch.

If the basket doesn't turn then there can be something (clothes) under the basket jamming it. If the basket doesn't turn then the spin bearing can be locked up.

Try these checks and see if the source of the problem becomes more apparent. If after making these checks you have other questions then submit another question with any additional details for further assistance with this problem.
