I have a water collection issue under the fruit/vegetable bins on my Kenmore refrigerator. Model is 106.78182891, Serial is EJ3616507. I suppose a drain is blocked but not sure how to proceed to unblock.

Core Issue

: Why is Kenmore refrigerator, model number 106.78182891, collecting water under the vegetable bins? How to stop?

Resolution

: It is possible for water to leak into refrigerator if there is a clog in drain or it overflowing. Frost/Ice build up, can be caused by; high humidity (moisture in the air), doors not sealing/closing properly or blocked air vents. During the defrost cycle, water can overflow drain tube or clogged it, backing up water into refrigerator. Usually this problem can be corrected by performing a manual defrost cycle. I am including the instructions for manual defrost below.

Manual Defrost

:

Unplug refrigerator or turn off circuit breaker for 24 hours. (remove food)

Leave both doors open.

Place towels at bottom of refrigerator to absorb water.

Turn power back on, allow refrigerator to stabilize temperature before loading with food.

Note

: General information for resolution of problem is based on information that was submitted with question. Please contact a certified technician if problem persist.
