How do I vent my Kenmore gas dryer on the left instead of the back?

I have a Kenmore dryer model 417.940723.

There is a 4" round perforation on the left side so I assume that there is a kit for this.

Thanks for your help.

The gas dryer that you have can be vented to the bottom or the right side by using the optional vent kit part number 131456800. You can order this part from the

Sears PartsDirect

website. The electric version of this dryer can be vented to the left or the right. You may have a round perforation on both sides but only one side can be used on the gas dryer. The gas dryer has a burner assembly that prevents the venting from going to one side. The electric dryer has an element on the back housing of the drum so that is why it can be vented either way.

The vent kit will have instructions for installation of the kit.

I just want to make sure you guys are on the same page as each other. The convention is to give your own left and right while facing the front of the dryer. Is that what you both meant?
