Why does Whirlpool side by side refrigerator, ice maker does not fill with water?

The on/off slide does not appear to work. Infrared light is working. Have removed filter to make sure water is not stopped at that point. Temperature is at 4, recommended by manufacturer. Water does not enter the ice maker. I can get water from dispenser. Any suggestions? It is as if it is in the "off" position. Do you think it is a problem with the slide switch or with the board behind the slide switch, or something else?

Core issue: Whirlpool side by side refrigerator model number ED5LHAXMB, ice maker does not fill with water.

Resolution: Things to check to troubleshoot unit:

Make sure there's nothing in the way of the freezer door shutting all the way. Even if the door is open a little, it will prevent ice production.

To check water flow, (If refrigerator has a water dispenser), it should be able to dispense about 3 to 6 ounces of water in about 5 seconds from dispenser. Contact a certified plumber if your water supply does not meet these conditions.

A water supply with water pressure between 30 and 120 psi (207 and 827 kPa) is required to operate the water dispenser and ice maker. It is recommended to use a saddle valve that requires drilling a 1/4" hole. This requires calling a licensed plumber. Self-piercing and 3/16” valves are not recommended because they clog more often. Check local plumbing codes for specific recommendations in the area.

The filter should be replaced every six months or sooner (depending upon water conditions).
