Why is the ice in my Kenmore model 363,9619616 refrigerator making wet ice?

I changed the defrost timer because the back panel was icing up and it seems to have worked. It takes a while to make ice and when the ice is dumped in the ice container it seems to melt a little. The temperature is on the high side of temperature gauge. I was wondering if you can help me with this problem.

You replaced the defrost timer to correct a ice build up in the freezer and it seems to have worked but the ice is not freezing hard like it use to. It freezes but is still wet when harvested to the ice container.

First check the temperature in the freezer section. It should get down to 0 degrees or close to it. If there was a defrost problem be sure the ice build up behind the evaporator cover wash completely defrosted. If there is still an ice build up on the evaporator coils the freezer won't get cold enough.

The other potential cause of this problem is the ice maker harvesting the ice to soon. If the thermostat in the icemaker closes to soon then the ice is harvested while the ice is still wet. The thermostat can be replaced but it's cost approximately $57 dollars.

Check the temperature in the freezer first and see if any adjustments to the control help bring the temperatures down to 0 degrees in the freezer +/- 5 degrees.

I hope this information helps to resolve this problem but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
