Why won't my Kenmore Ultrawash Quietguard 3 dishwasher power up?

The dishwasher hasn't washed well for several months, now it doesn't even turn on. There is no power or anything to show that it even CAN or ever could turn on. Also, I've checked a number of times from the inside and took apart things to see if I could see anything wrong. All I ever found was some calcium/grease gunk buildup in the area past the filter thingy. Everything else was clean pretty much. It seems to be an electric problem/failure, yet nothing seems to be wrong. Pressing any buttons results in no response from the machine. Power is fine (I tried checking the breaker), but no lights light up at all. Someone else mentioned that 'wirenuts' may have melted or something? I checked those and they are fine as well. I'm probably missing something obvious, but I can't find out what's wrong. Any suggestions?

Some dishwashers are wired so that a light switch beside the sink (usually next to the garbage disposer light switch) will shut off power to the dishwasher. Check the light switches around your kitchen sink to see if the one for the dishwasher (if it exists) is turned off.

On some models, the unit will not power up unless the door is closed. Try closing the dishwasher door firmly to see if the console will power up and respond.

Some models have a thermal fuse in the console that could be blown. Without a model number, I am unable to see the technical information on your dishwasher. If the above tips don't help, resubmit your question with additional details and the full model number of your dishwasher. We will be glad to help you further once we receive the model number information.
