Why won't my Kenmore Elite electric dryer heat, model number 110 82826101?

The drum turns. I checked to see the vent was clear and it is. How do I know if it is the heating element or fuse?

Core Issue

: Why won't my Kenmore Elite electric dryer heat, model number 110 82826101?

Solution

: Before you start verify that the dryer was not set on the Air Dry setting. Dryers will not produce heat on this setting.

Electric dryers require two 30 amp breakers or fuses in the house electrical box to run and heat. If one breaker is tripped or one fuse is blown, the motor, the timer and lights can work but the dryer will not heat.

Locate two 30 amp breakers and turn them off by moving the switch to the off position.

Wait at least 30 seconds and turn the circuit breaker back on by moving it to the on position.

Select a heating cycle and put some clothes inside the dryer.

Run the dryer for about a minute.

Open the dryer door and touch the clothes to see if the dryer is heating again.

The wall receptacle (plug), power cord and electrical supply must be in good condition and wired correctly or the dryer may not to heat.
