How do I troubleshoot my Kenmore washer model 417.44092500 that will not complete the cycles normally?

On the permanent press normal cycle, it starts the wash and then when it appears to go to the next step to rinse. It stops and the clothes sit in water. Time keeps counting down but nothing happens. I have done loads of laundry at this setting before with no issues.

On a different setting, I heard the noise like it wanted to spin to begin the wash, but it did not make any movement.

Thanks.

When this model of washer fails to spin or tumble, it will normally display an error code. If you did not notice an error code, you can recall it using the procedure in the top of the image below. I provided a chart with the explanations of the error codes. The first step in troubleshooting a problem in this washer is to determine the error code that the control displays during the failure. If you can recall the error code using the procedure below, you may be able to determine the cause of your failure. I also provided a diagnostic test procedure. You can enter this test mode and check the various components in the washer. If you can determine the error code and need more help in fixing this washer problem, resubmit your question with additional details and the error code that is being displayed.
