How do I loosen a stuck drill bit from my drill? It's a drill that doesn't use a key.

The bit is stuck in my drill not into what I was drilling. The drill is the type that doesn't use a hey.

Thanks for your reply. There's no problem opening the chuck. This is a steel, keyed 3/8" drill. I have opened the chuck jaws. The problem is that something deeper inside seems to be holding it. It feels almost like the bottom of the drill bit is stuck to something. There's no give in the bit.

Be careful and use safety glasses.

I usually put on a thick set of gloves and try to do it by hand. If this does not work try getting a pair of vice grips on the bit itself. Have someone hold the vice grips as you try it again gripping the keyless chuck. If this does not work try a pair of vice grips on both the bit and the chuck. Be careful if you have a plastic chuck you can damage it. Make sure you are in reverse. If this does not work you will have to take the drill apart. Thanks BB
