Tune-ups used to be a regular maintenance ritual--adjusting the carburetor, replacing the ignition points, condenser, distributor cap, rotor, and spark plugs, and setting the timing. But today’s cars with fuel injection (no carburetor), direct electronic ignition (no distributor and so no points, condenser, cap, or rotor), computer-controlled timing, and long-life spark plugs just don’t need such routine service.
