Why is my car hard to steer?

My car has become very hard to steer. What’s the problem?
The power steering may not be providing full boost. Check the fluid level in the reservoir on the power-steering pump, and top it up if the fluid is low. Also check the belt that drives the pump; if it’s worn and slipping, the power steering will be less effective. Also look for leaks at the steering box or rack and the hoses leading from it to the pump.
