What can I do with pumpkins after Halloween?

I have three pumpkins on my porch and I'd like to use them for something fun after Halloween is over. Can I use them to make soaps or food or anything else? Maybe feed them to animals?

In some situations, you can use the pumpkins for Fall decorations until Thanksgiving. You may be able to turn the pumpkins around so that the carved or marked face is not showing. Add miniature hay bales and Fall flowers to create a Harvest display.

If the pumpkins are carved, you will not be able to use them to cook anything. You can add them to your compost heap or bury them in your garden. They will decompose quickly and fertilize the garden or flower beds.

Pumpkins make good feed for most animals.

If the pumpkins are not carved, you can use them for pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread. You can roast the seeds and eat them. You can wash and dry some of the seed and then plant them next year.
