You should not have to empty the drain pan. Unless you are in a very humid area that causes excess moisture to enter the cabinet or it had a defrost problem which will cause a large frost build-up, the drain pan should handle the water drainage. However, if you want to remove the drain pan, it will pull out from the front, next to the filter but it will be very tight. Remove the front bottom grill and remove the wire gate on the left side of the filter and the drain pan will sit back under the cabinet. Disconnect power to the unit before pulling the drain pan out. The drain pan can also be gotten to, from the rear of the unit. Pull the unit out far enough to remove the back panel cover. Make sure the power has been disconnected. With the cover removed, you will see the drain pan behind the condenser fan motor. Remove the fan motor and you can then pull the drain pan out.
