Core Issue

: What causes my Kenmore front load washer to make a loud noise during spin cycle, model number 417.43142300?

High Efficiency washers spin up to 4 times faster than conventional washers. This creates a high pitched sound, similar to a jet turbine engine winding up, as the machine increases the spin speed to maximum RPM (Revolutions Per Minute). During the first half of the Spin cycle, the sound may change as the machine is balancing itself and increases speed to maximum.

This is Normal

.

Convectional Top Load washers don't spin as fast, therefore this kind of noise is NOT normal, but can occasionally occur.

HE Top Load and HE Front Load Washer Causes

:

If new and making a steady howling sound during the Spin cycle, this is

NORMAL

.

If

NOT

new and the noise just started;

Check for a Bra wire or other foreign object stuck in hole in the basket.

Have technician check for a foreign object between the tub and basket.

Have a technician check for a failing tub bearing.
