If the detergent is caked or clumped in the dispenser, dishes will not get clean and dispenser door may not open.

Causes of detergent caking and clumping in the dispenser:

Detergent Too Old

Incorrect Water Temperature

Overfilling Dispenser

Wet Dispenser

Resolution

Solutions for detergent caking and clumping in the dispenser:

Detergent Too Old

- Detergent absorbs moisture and the chemicals dissipate when exposed to air. Detergent may cake or clump and not dispense if it is too old. Do not use old detergent.

Incorrect Water Temperature

- Hot water is necessary to dissolve detergent and ensure proper dispensing and cleaning. Be sure your water is hot enough to ensure the detergent dissolved properly.

Overfilling Dispenser

- Can cause detergent to be packed when trying to close the dispenser door. This will cause the detergent to cake and clump in the dispenser and can prevent the dispenser door from opening. Do not overfill or pack detergent into the dispenser.

Wet Dispenser

- Can cause detergent to bond and stick together or to stick in the dispenser preventing the dishes from from getting clean or dispenser door from opening. Be sure the dispenser is dry before adding the detergent.
