Why is my Kitchen Aid dishwasher very loud during the wash cycle?

by Manage My Life Last activity date:

I have a Kitchen Aid dishwasher model number KUDS01DJSS0 serial FL2126319. When the unit is draining, the noise level goes down. It used to be whisper quite, but not now. I took the service panel off the bottom about 2 months ago to look around, and it was quite again for a couple wash cycles after that. I have no idea what I might have done to cause the temporary relief.

From what you’re describing it sounds like something is lodged in the wash pump assembly. You can disassemble the wash pump & check for the source of the noise by removing the upper section of the pump. When you removed the lower panel something may have been vibrating. Please see the images provided that explain access to the pump assembly & other service information.
