Why did my Kenmore refrigerator model number 596.73504201 ice maker stop working?

Kenmore 596.73504201 refrigerator recently slowed way down making ice cubes. It acts like the bar to indicate full is always up.

Why did my Kenmore refrigerator model number 596.73504201 ice maker stop working?

In most occasions when the ice maker slowly stops working it is caused by the water filter being clogged. The filter needs to be changed every 3 to 6 months depending on the hard water in your area as recommended by the manufacturer.

If the filter has never been changed there is a good possibility this would be causing your ice maker problem.

You can also try taking approximate. 1 cup of water & pour it into the ice maker tray. After waiting a couple of hours check if the ice cubes harvested. If the ice cubes harvested, the problem is the water valve or water line, if not then the ice maker or power to the ice maker has failed. Be sure the ice maker is in the on position.

If this does not seem to help the problem. You may consider scheduling service by calling us at 1-800-469-4663.
