What kind of wine goes well with turkey?

I'm serving a traditional roast turkey for Christmas dinner and wonder what wine I should serve with it.

For most ham dishes, you want a wine that's not going to overwhelm the meat's light flavor. If you're a fan of reds, go for something lighter like a pinot noir or merlot (avoiding more complex, richer varietals like cabernet and malbec) . Prefer white? The dry sweetness of gewurtztraminer is a nice pairing. Enjoy!

There are red wines and white wines that go with turkey.

Among the reds, pinot noir is the goes-with-turkey classic. You can also try a well-chilled Beaujolais Nouveau.

For guests who prefer white wine, serve a Chardonnay or dry Riesling. For a sweeter white, opt for a white zinfandel.
