White vinegar is a good antidote for mineral deposits. Fill your iron's water tank with vinegar and steam iron a clean rag for a few minutes. Then replace the vinegar with water and steam iron for a few more minutes. Finally, rinse the water tank one more time before using the iron for real pressing assignments.
