My refrigerator model 253.55672407 freezer is leaking water onto my floor. What is going on?The freezer appears to have water that freezes and melts water all over my floor. I have emptied out the freezer and shut it off to thaw and the drain does not look clogged. What do I need to do?

The water leak can be coming from a blockage in the drain hole in the center of the defrost drain trough or a leak in the defrost drain pan. The refrigerator automatically goes into a self defrosting cycle every 8-10 hours. When it goes into the defrost cycle the defrost heating element located directly under the evaporator coils produces heat to melt the ice and frost from that has accumulated on the evaporator. The melted ice should drip down onto the defrost drain trough and down into the drain hole through a tubing and into the defrost drain pan housing. If it cannot drain out, it will normally will run out the freezer door or cause an ice block in the bottom of the freezer.

In order to check for a blockage in defrost drain trough the lower evaporator cover panel in the freezer will need to be removed by removing the bottom six (6) screws. The defrost drain pan is not removable plus it's also the mounting base in which the compressor is sitting in and secured to.

If the refrigerator is working normally other than leaking, it would be worth repairing.
