How do I get heavy duty melted plastic off my iron grate and burner cap of my gas stove?

I have a Kenmore model 790.77482800 gas stove. I thought about putting it the oven on the clean cycle with something under it to catch the plastic as it melts off. It was a plastic cutting board and it will not scrape off and I dont want to scratch the black cast iron. Thanks

I can't be certain that the porcelain won't be damaged by the high operating temperature of the cleaning cycle and the plastic could also cause soot and a lot of smoke too.

You might try placing the cap and grate in the freezer for an hour or so and then see if the plastic will peel/scrap off using a razor knife. If you can't get the plastic off, you may have to replace the burner cap and grate.
