Why won't my GE washer, model WPRE6100G0WT drain and spin properly?

Model # WPRE6100G0WT

Brand Name GE Top Load

After the cycles are complete my clothes are soak and wet. Once before I have heard some knocking noise but it seems to have stopped. I have tried smaller water levels and longer spin cycles. Nothing seems to work. Please help me fix this problem, I am tired of ringing out wet clothes.

From your description the washer may have a worn or contaminated clutch assembly, or the washer is not draining all the water out of the tub before it goes into the spin cycle. The washer is supposed to drain the water out first before the washer begins to spin. If the transmission is shifting directly into spin before it pumps all the waster out that too could cause the clothes to not spin out correctly.

You could also have a problem with the drainage. Check the tub, stand, pipe, and or floor drain for blockage.
