How do I remove the drain cover inside my dishwasher?

The dishwasher is leaving brown grit on the dishes. I suspect that the dishwasher is dirty, or the screen is plugged. We have been subject to low water pressure at times. This is a free-standing dishwasher. Can I remove the drain cover in the cabinet bottom of a Kenmore dishwasher model 665.1765593 and how?

If your dishwasher does not fill with enough water due to low water pressure or due to a restricted filter screen inside the water inlet valve on the dishwasher can cause your dishwasher to leave food, debris and undissolved detergent on the dishes and glasses. The proper water level should be up to the bottom of the float dome located in the right front corner of the tub after it has completed filling. You also need to make sure that the dishwasher drains all the water out too or it could cause food and debris to redistribute back onto the dishes.

I added several images below with the tear down instructions and the theory of pump operation.
